Bodywork
Bodywork is a large part of my practice and something I'm very passionate about. Please visit my separate bodywork site for more information. www.integratealign.com |
Rolf Method of Structural Integration
Structural Integration is a type of bodywork focusing on the fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds, penetrates and supports all muscles, bones, nerves and organs. When the fascia is realigned, the body moves more efficiently and in alignment with itself. The end result of the process: a body at ease and moving in peace with itself. The most common method for a person to incorporate Structural Integration into their life is by a sequence known as the 10 Series. Through each of the ten appointments, the Structural Integration practitioner seeks to align, lengthen and organize the fascia, focusing on a different portion of the body in each session. At the end of the 10 Series good posture is effortless and breathing is easier; the body becomes more flexible, more coordinated and athletic performance improves. Many who journey through the 10 Series return for advanced sessions.
"When the body gets working appropriately, the force of gravity can flow through, then spontaneously, the body heals itself." -Dr. Ida P. Rolf
Maya Abdominal Therapy™
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy™ are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage which is an “external non invasive manipulation that repositions internal organs that have shifted, thereby restricting the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi.” This therapy addresses the health and position of pelvic and abdominal organs. The work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed, fallen, or tilted uterus and for the prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement in men, and for relief of many common digestive disorders.
CranioSacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy focuses on the 22 bones that make up the human head, the vertebra and sacrum, and also on the brain, the central nervous system, the cerebrospinal fluid and the system of membranes inside the cranium and spinal column.
The brain and spinal cord have a lot of influence over the body’s ability to function properly. The central nervous system is influenced by the membranes and fluid that protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.
Everyday stresses and strains can create changes that cause body tissues to tighten and in turn distort the Craniosacral system. These stresses cause tension to form around the brain and spinal cord which result in restrictions. These can create a barrier to the healthy function of the central nervous system and potentially every other system it interacts with.
The CranioSacral practitioner uses their hands in soft-touch techniques to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the Craniosacral system.
This work is especially wonderful for newborns and mothers.
